Fish Tacos & the Mango Sun-sation X4

The last few days have been really really long. On Friday, Winter official was kicked to the door with a near record 81 degree temp.

I, on the other hand, had been getting my ass kicked as I typed yet again for the fourth day under tight deadlines.

But when the fingers could no longer work, much less my mind, I did what everyone does at a such a late hour when the finish line is sorta in sight.

No, I did not hunker down, but rather I pressed #6 on my speed dial to call my friend Susan.

Turns out that tonight she was in her old house making Fish Tacos. This house has seen so many parties with friends and since she was between renters, she wanted to revisit this old house.

Within minutes I am in my car and in the kitchen with Susan, Kathy and Mary. (Really, a real Mary.)

So tonight I want to post the few photos that survived the night. Look closely at the photos for the improvised utensils. If I can recall how the Perch Tacos & and Mango drinks were made I will post the recipe in the coming days.

But that is after I complete my deadlines.

Oh, and if any one can tell me where to secure the amazing Aha Toro Anejo Tequila, I would love to know.

Rapid Growth Media: LIVE TODAY

I will be brief today since I am under deadline (yet again) for the newly released Grand Rapids online guide, Rapid Growth Media.

The Detropit based group, New Issue Media, have created this type of city promotion last year with Detroit and last month launched their Pittsburgh site.

The site seeks to create a portal for those looking to either visit, move or invest in the city. The site cuts through all the bad reported about a city and focuses on what is being done right.

So Rapid Growth celebrates these places within the city we enjoy to visit or call home.

Further more it focuses on the fact that city living is really good living.

Each city has it's own character and charm, and the Grand Rapids' Rapid Growth site will relect the fast changing landscape of our city.

Ok, I need to go back to work on the Creston guide which is to launch next week. This week look at the East Hills' guide for familar local names like K C Caliendo, Vince Salerno, Guy Bazzani, and Dianne Griffin.

Coffee Shop Talk

It seems entirely fitting that this entire entry be created while trying to digest my entire lunch.

So why the repeated use of the word "entire?"

For starters, the entire time I have been at "It's A Grind" on Fulton, the obligatory coffee house jazz soundtrack is punctuated with the scat like sound of fragmented, one sided conversations and the occasional chirp of a bird disguised as a phone.

Yes, all this activity is going on constantly while I am trying to enjoy my lunch. This modern gadget has become entirely out of control. (Do not even get me started on the Star Trek-like ear pieces. Did I miss something or are there Borg's among us now?)

Emily Post, were she alive today would be able to help, but alas, she is gone. However, I do remember a web site offering a creative way out for those of us who on our worst days have entertained the entire thought of grabbing these tiny phones and toss them in the Grand River.

In these incidents it is best not to do anything that could potentially end with you having to sit in court with this ill mannered talker.

But for those who are not content to let their imagination run wild with the medieval torture they would inflict on these Coffee Squawkers, may I suggest you visit the Society for Handheld Hushing site to see a very clever way to beat back the noise and without lifting a finger. (Well, you will need to use a pen at some point.)

Oh, one last thing, after we remove the Squawkers we can work on removing the use of the words "Market Share" together. In fact the only time it will be used is in the transposed form. "Let's Share a Market salad."
