Twitter Film Review: I'll never look at uncooked turkey again without thinking of #NataliePortman's skin in #BlackSwan.
Oh, and you must see it on the big screen, too.

My Holiday Wish for 2011 and the decade to come.
In 2011 I am setting the bar high and with the hopes each will prevail.
I hope as you plan your days you will think more and more each year about what your legacy will be.
We all won't leave buildings that are adorned with our names but our city is changed by our action (or inaction.)
As Bjork said, "It's in our hands."
Best of wishes to all this holiday season.
Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards mankind.

Thkx @NYTimes' #FrankRich for once again outlining where '80s style gay bashing has returned.
Having survived the awful '80s culture wars and the incredibly stupid silence on AIDS by Washington, Frank Rich has crafted an editorial in the New York Times that unfortunately reports that for all of our perceived progress, those battles that I thought were in the past are not.
This piece is essential reading if you are concerned over the mess at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. It is very informative and explains a lot of the players as it outlines the mess created around this important exhibition.

Sometimes a day in the studio is all I need. TanglefootStudio.com (by appt. only)
The bonus is sometimes the studio presents beauty in unexpected places by looking up, around and sometimes out.

@Pfleghaar posts his 1st Kickstarter project on line. A new chapter begins and you can be a part of it. http://kck.st/eKydx9
When Michael finishes his graduate work at Boston's AIB a whole new chapter begins and you have a chance to not only write a page of this history, but you can decide what level you want to author it.
Collectors of Pfleghaar's art may recall that about 20 years ago he did a small series of paintings created from his time spent in France.
These few but now classic pieces produced on that last trip have become some of his most sought after works by collectors and galleries.
Now we enter a new time period with new tools at our disposal as artists and the results truly do benefit the artist and the collector.
Please consider this exciting Austrian project and the opportunities that await him.
Cheers!
Tommy

Why Is This Man Smiling This AM?

raised nearly 4k at the
Art Battle for Community: The Rematch.

Artists Rule!
Thanks for the event photos, David! ( www.humanfiles.com ) and his brother, Michael. (also a photographer)
Thank you to Brett and his great staff at Sazerac Lounge on Plainfield. (They make their food the old fashioned way.... from scratch. Ask a ninety year old woman about the healthy benefits of this act of preservation.)
Thank you CNA board, staff and volunteers.
Most of all
Thank you to our great 12 artists - without them this event could not have happened.
Shelly Klein, Michael Pfleghaar, Kelly Allen, Nathan Goddard, Michael Ingold, Lisa Price, Aneka Vanderhill, Gloria Oostema, Abbey Bradley, Cat Campbell, Tom Post and Beth Fowler.
Thank you for supporting and funding local art projects within our community and making the world a bit nicer.
(oh, and thanks to the Friend of Leonardo DiCaprio who signed the environmental DVD The 11th Hour)

Art Battle for Community: The Rematch

The Creston Neighborhood Association is hosting the
2nd Art Battle for Community,
an evening where one will experience up close
the development of the artistic process.
At the beginning of the event,
the artists will be given a topic.
They will have one hour to create an original piece
based on the topic. Attendees get to view artists create works of art
from the birth of a concept to the completion of the piece.
Later at 8:00 PM,
a lively auction will be held with
the original pieces going to the highest bidder.
Please join us in this creative fund raising event
to help grow one of Grand Rapids most vibrant neighborhood association
and support our local artists.

Tanglefoot Studio: One Amazing Night of Music
(Photo by David McGowan: Natalia Zukerman, Kristin Salerno, Drew Nelson, Tommy Allen, Trina Hamlin, Michael Pfleghaar)Tanglefoot Studio was able to host a memorable night of music from three nationally known singer/songwriters.
If you missed it, I am sorry. The guest list was very small and sold out in a matter of days.
If you attended, then you know what I am talking about when I say this is one event that will be hard to top as we look at new events to produce within our space.
If you would love to make sure you are on the guest list, please send me an email to tommyallen @ comcast. net
Look for a video piece on RapidGrowthMedia.com
Thank you's to David McGowan of humanfiles.com, Levitationstaging.com and Kristin Salerno & Michael Pfleghaar.

One Last Stop
Ok, before the New Year's resolutions kick in, there is one last stop to make this season. This great box of treats from Norman Love Confections will trump any good intentions. So, why fight it when they are so pretty.
They taste as good as they look.
Take one last dip in decadence and then get back on track.
Happy New Year.
